U.S. Unemployment Rate Falls To 10 Percent

WASHINGTON – The national unemployment rate fell to 10 percent in November, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

“The economy lost 11,000 jobs (in November),” said U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis. “I am encouraged by the pattern of moderated job loss; however, I will not be satisfied until there are robust gains.”

The unemployment rate is down from 10.2 percent in October, when the economy lost a total of 190,000 jobs, the U.S. Department of Labor reported.

There were 15.4 million unemployed persons in November.

Employment fell in construction, manufacturing, and information in November, while temporary help services and healthcare added jobs, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics said.

In Ohio, the unemployment rate reached 10.5 percent in October, above the national rate of 10.2 percent for the month.
